today has been a shitty shitty day all around:

EASTBROOK — An early morning fire Saturday at Ricky McNeil’s mobile home on Abbott Lane claimed the life of his 12-year-old son, Thomas McNeil. Ricky McNeil, who is Eastbrook’s fire chief, was flown to the burn center in Portland for treatment of injuries sustained in the fire, according to his sister, Carol McAlpine.
“He will make it,” McAlpine said, adding that her brother was “distraught.”
The Hancock County Sheriff’s Department said the call came in at 4:45 a.m. Investigators and Red Cross representatives were on the scene after the fire.
Gretchen O’Grady, Red Cross director of emergency services, was at the scene providing disaster mental health counseling and other support to Richard McNeil, 14, Ricky McNeil’s other son. Richard had spent Friday night with his grandmother, who lives nearby, and was not at home at the time of the fire.
McAlpine said firefighters from Eastbrook, Franklin, Hancock and Waltham responded to the call.
“It’s an awful thing,” McAlpine said.
State Police spokesman Stephen McAusland said Ricky’s brother, Paul, had pulled Ricky from the burning residence. Thomas was found in his bedroom. McAusland said the state fire marshal and State Police investigators were on the scene to determine the cause of the fire. More information on the fire and how to help the McNeil family will be posted as details become available.

Not only was he a child, he was a child that Kimberlyhas gone to school with since 2nd grade, and he was also family on Joes side. He was a great kid and he will be missed. All I hear in my head is “hi Kims mom”. Just trying to figure out why shit like this happens. There just isn’t any plausable explaination. If you find one, please pass it on to me.
